Each animal and plant species possesses unique forms of communication and association, such as animal language and the symbiosis between roots and fungi. Although these are astonishing, they do not match the complexity of human writing. In 'The Electronic Revolution,' Burroughs compares written language to an alien virus, while Heidegger sees it as a force that shapes our perception of the world. 'Gift' reflects on these ideas.
