Mother Sun
42.5" x 27.5"
Hahnemühle photo rag bright white + Plexi faceMount
2022

In this work, I attempted to depict an Andean deity, inspired by Incan descriptions of their gods, focusing especially on the sun and the earth. The setting aims to emulate the sunny Andean landscapes, highlighting greens, browns, and yellows.

The context of the piece narrates the creation of life by a goddess, who uses an artificial egg to foster new life. This goddess has the ability to enter the egg to shape her creations.

It is important to emphasize that a key part of my intention when creating this painting was to question the traditional concept of God as a masculine figure. From my perspective, mothers are the ones who carry and ultimately create life, which led me to the idea that the divine figure should be feminine.

DECONSTRUCTING THE ARTWORK

The egg - Plexi faceMount

This piece has a different finish from the background of the artwork as it is printed on plexi facemount, giving it a glossy and colorful appearance.

This section of the work displays the egg in which new life forms before emerging. We can observe that the capsule contains liquid inside, and that the being created within is ready to emerge from the egg.
