This artwork is a reflection on the war in Gaza—one of the most painful and visible humanitarian crises of our time. It is a portrait of anguish, but also of memory, created not to represent a specific person, but to embody the collective suffering of an entire people.

Despite the horrors witnessed in the two World Wars and the global commitment to “never again,” humanity continues to repeat the same cycles of violence, marginalization, and destruction. Gaza has become not only a geographic wound, but a symbol of our shared failure to uphold the most basic principles of coexistence.

The portrait was created with the intention of preserving dignity in the midst of devastation. It does not aim to shock, but rather to invite a moment of silence, confrontation, and responsibility. The face depicted in the piece becomes a mirror—asking not just what is happening there, but what is being allowed to happen by us all.

This work does not offer solutions; it demands recognition. It calls on viewers to engage with what we often choose to ignore, and to reflect on the urgency of peace, justice, and the preservation of human life—no matter where, no matter whom.
