Hahnemühle photo rag bright white + Copper frame
2017
The Kodamas are spirits of the forest in Japanese folklore, dwelling in lush and ancient forests, choosing a tree as their home. They are perceived as the typical sounds of the forest; the whispering of branches swaying in the wind, the rustling of autumn leaves underfoot, and the echoes in valleys and mountains. The crashing sound of a falling tree is their lament, and the falling ripe fruits and seeds are their gifts.

Only those with special sensitivity and deep love for nature are considered suitable to see the Kodamas. Although they may appear intimidating, they are harmless and merely act as observers of their surroundings.
